Les Portes-en-Ré.

Follow the D.101 from the Phare to the most northern point of the island, Portes-en-Ré. Follow the signs to the beach and you will find the bunkers. They all lie along the coast, one of them is now located next to the road and hardly visible.
The battery was finished around the end of 1943 and had four emplacements for a 7,5cm gun. There were a couple supporting guns, MG and mortars, but the only visible parts today are three emplacements, a smaller emplacement for a 5cm gun and a personnel bunker.
The bunkers are in a poor condition. They are situated on or next to the beach and some of them are on private property, like one of the emplacements and the fire-control bunker.
The fire-control bunker has now been re-fitted into a house, at least that is what we think, because we found not a single trace of it.
